Word Freak by Stefan Fatsis
Many a tournament player will comment that reading "Word Freak" is what sparked their interest in competitive Scrabble. A sports reporter for The Wall Street Journal and a regular contributor to NPR, Stefan Fatsis explores the world of Scrabble and shares his own triumphs and tragedies in tournament play.

Everything Scrabble by Joe Edley & John D. Williams, Jr.
Joe Edley, three-time winner of the National Scrabble Championship, and John D. Williams, Jr., executive director of the NSA, have written "the most comprehensive book ever published about the Scrabble game." "Everything Scrabble" offers a history of the game, a detailed description of tournament play, strategy tips and exercises, and several useful word lists.
NOTE: "Everything Scrabble" was published in 2001, so the word lists do not include words that were added (or deleted) when the NSA revised the Official Tournament and Club Word List in 2006. But, it's still an excellent resource for improving your game.

The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (Fourth Edition)
The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (OSPD) is the official word source for school and recreational play. The OSPD contains brief definitions of each word.

Official Tournament and Club Word List (Second Edition)
The Official Tournament and Club Word List (OWL2) is the official word source for club and tournament play. The OWL2 contains no definitions. A key difference between the OWL2 and the OSPD is that the OWL2 contains "qualified words that are considered offensive and therefore may be inappropriate for family use."

Official Tournament Rules
A 28-page booklet with the official rules for tournament play.

DVDs

Word Wars - Tiles and Tribulations on the Scrabble Game Circuit
Like Stefan Fatsis' "Word Freak", this documentary provides an inside look at the world of competitive Scrabble following the progress of four players as they prepare for the 2002 National Scrabble Championship.
NOTE: This film is unrated, but viewers should know that there is language that may be offensive to some.

Scrabylon (A Scrabble Movie)
Another documentary look at tournament Scrabble players. A bit shorter than "Word Wars" and more family friendly.

Wordplay
Okay, so this film isn't about Scrabble. It's about the New York Times crossword puzzle and the annual crossword puzzle championship hosted by Will Shortz. The atmosphere of the puzzle championship is very reminiscent of a Scrabble tournament.
